My Experience With Attorney Lawrence Boyd by Thomas B.

When I first contacted Attorney Lawrence Boyd about my ALR case, I was already frustrated and honestly felt like nobody had really listened to my side of what happened. My CDL is how I make my living, so this wasn’t just about losing a driver’s license. My ability to work and provide for myself was on the line.

From the beginning, Larry was different. He actually listened.

I came into this case with a lot of questions and concerns about the traffic stop, the field sobriety tests, the paperwork, the alleged refusal, and things I believed simply did not add up. Instead of brushing those concerns aside, Larry took them seriously and looked at the evidence.

What impressed me the most was how prepared and effective he was at the actual ALR hearing. Watching him cross-examine the officer made me realize just how important it is to have an attorney who understands this area of law and knows exactly what questions to ask. He challenged the officer on the evidence, the administration of the field sobriety tests, the paperwork, and the circumstances surrounding the alleged refusal.

The hearing wasn’t just about arguing my side. Larry was able to expose weaknesses in the State’s case and put the evidence in front of the judge so that it could actually be evaluated.

The final written decision speaks for itself.

The Administrative Law Judge found that DPS failed to prove the required issues. The judge found that the standardized field sobriety tests were not properly administered, questioned the reliability of the HGN test because of the flashing lights around me, found that one of the walk-and-turn clues was invalid, and noted problems with the officer’s explanation of another alleged clue.

Most importantly to me, after reviewing the video, the judge specifically found that I did not look intoxicated or demonstrate the traditional clues necessary to support probable cause that I was intoxicated.

The judge also found that DPS failed to prove that I refused to provide a blood specimen and found that the evidence did not establish that I had been given the proper statutory warnings.

The final order was that DPS could not suspend or deny my driving privileges.

That result meant everything to me because my CDL and my livelihood were at stake.

What I appreciate about Larry goes beyond simply saying, “We won.” I finally felt like the evidence received the attention I had been asking for. He gave me an opportunity to have the facts examined instead of feeling like I was supposed to accept what had been written in a police report without questioning it.

If you’re dealing with an ALR hearing, especially when your driver’s license or CDL affects how you make your living, I would absolutely recommend speaking with Attorney Lawrence Boyd. He understood the process, knew what to look for, knew how to question the officer, and most importantly, he was prepared to fight the case based on the actual evidence.

Larry helped me protect my CDL, but he also helped give me something I had been looking for throughout this entire process: the opportunity to finally feel heard.

I’m genuinely grateful for the work he did for me and the way he represented me when so much was on the line.

Thank you, Larry.
