July 2026 Happy Fourth of July

July 2026 Criminal Defense Tips, Happy 4th of July, and
Happy Birthday!

As we welcome July 2026, all of us at DWIDallas and the Law Offices of Randall B. Isenberg would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Independence Day holiday, a happy birthday to our July-born friends and family members, and a successful month ahead.

July is one of the busiest months of the summer. Families gather for vacations, cookouts, fireworks displays, and celebrations across Texas. While it is a wonderful time to make memories, it is also a time when law enforcement agencies increase patrols and actively enforce traffic and criminal laws throughout the state. The Texas Department of Public Safety traditionally increases enforcement efforts during the Fourth of July holiday period, focusing on DWI offenses, speeding, seatbelt violations, and other traffic-related offenses.

Criminal Defense Tip #1: Never Drink and Drive

One of the most common criminal charges during the Fourth of July holiday is Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Even a single mistake can result in an arrest, driver’s license suspension, expensive fines, increased insurance rates, and potential jail time.

If you plan to consume alcohol:

  • Designate a sober driver.
  • Use a ride share service.
  • Stay overnight if necessary.
  • Have a transportation plan before the celebration begins.

Planning ahead is always less expensive than defending a DWI charge afterward. Texas law enforcement agencies routinely conduct increased enforcement efforts during holiday weekends.

Criminal Defense Tip #2: Know Your Rights

If you are stopped by law enforcement:

  • Remain calm and polite.
  • Provide identification when requested.
  • Do not argue or resist.
  • Remember that you have the right to remain silent and the right to speak with an attorney.

Many people unintentionally harm their own cases by making statements without understanding the legal consequences.

Criminal Defense Tip #3: Be Careful on Social Media

Photos, videos, and posts made during holiday celebrations can sometimes become evidence in criminal cases. Before posting anything online, ask yourself whether you would be comfortable seeing that content presented in court.

Privacy settings do not always guarantee privacy.

Criminal Defense Tip #4: Fireworks and Public Safety Matter

July celebrations often include fireworks. Follow all local laws and safety regulations. Unsafe use of fireworks can lead to injuries, property damage, and in some circumstances, criminal defense charges.

Always use fireworks responsibly and keep safety a priority.

Criminal Defense Tip #5: Make Smart Decisions Around Friends

Many criminal defense cases begin with situations that escalate unexpectedly:

  • Arguments become assaults.
  • Poor decisions become criminal charges.
  • Peer pressure leads to arrests.

The best criminal defense is often avoiding situations that could create legal problems in the first place.
